Peacock Costume

Well, I did it. I finished my daughters costume just in the nick of time... well actually, I continued to make adjustments to it, to make it more kid friendly throughout the night. My very talented husband was up all night and into the wee hours of Halloween morning making the frame. I really wanted the tail feather to be worn up or down, so it took my engineer husband several nights of design to figure it out. He has a garage full of scrap metal and wood, and every machine tool known to man so I wasn't surprised when he showed me his engineering marvel on Halloween. He was sure to tell me "I did this for you, you know". Yes! I know, and I love you more for it.

See, here's the beautiful tail feather down, before I had to add "backpack" style straps to it to keep the tail feather in the up position.... That's for next Halloween to figure out. I'm just happy she can wear it up or down. But, oh how cool it would be if she could pull a little lever and the tail would flip up or down depending on her mood.  We'll get there. Maybe it will be part of my next product line.

I bought a peacok feather from JoAnn's and hot glued it onto a black elastic headband I have never used. I was surprised it fit my daughters head, I figured it would be too big since it fits mine. Oh how sad, she is growing so fast! And she's only 3, for a few more months anyway.

Oh and notice that little purse, I made it years ago from a fat quarter of Amy Buttler fabric. It's like it was made for this outfit! The plastic pumpkin candy holder broke as she was trying to force it to fit in her car seat with her on the way to a trunk-or-treat. That was good for a lesson in anger management.

We started our tricker treating a little early, just so I could take a few pictures in daylight. We stopped at our neighbors house for treats, and all the kids wanted to join in for the next house. Then it began...
Ding ..... Dong! Ding Dong Ding Dong Ding..Dong!

Now, off to the next house.... hurry before somewhere else gets the candy.

Fun times were had by all! You should see all the empty candy wrappers sitting around me now as I post.. Oh and, I got a call from my dentist on Halloween that i'm due for my 6 month check-up, what?!  On Halloween? Way to ruin the fun.

Hope you had a spooktasticaly exciting Halloween! (I know I just made up a word)
